Your questions are welcome.
Starting something new comes with questions. That's part of the journey. Here are the ones we hear most.

Do I need trucking experience?
No. You don't need any experience to explore the industry or to talk with us. Formal training and licensing are required before you can drive professionally.
Am I too old to start?
Age alone doesn't define your potential. Our founder started at 42 and is still operating at 63. Licensing, medical and other eligibility requirements still apply to everyone.
Who is SafeStart for?
SafeStart is designed for women 40+ who are starting over, nervous or first-time learners, career changers, women who need a second chance, and anyone looking for stability and independence.
What does mentorship actually involve?
Conversation, guidance and encouragement. We talk through your goals and worries, explain how the industry works, and help you understand training, licensing and career options so you can choose your next step.
What is Class 1 or AZ?
They are licence classes for driving tractor-trailers, and the name depends on the province. Ontario uses Class A, often with a Z air-brake endorsement (“AZ”). Many other provinces call it Class 1.
Does SafeStart provide certified driver training?
SafeStart is mentorship and career guidance. It is not a certified driving school. We can help you understand what to look for in a qualified training provider in your province.
I'm nervous. Is that normal?
Completely. Most women who reach out feel that way. SafeStart is built to be calm and judgment-free, and you move at your own pace. We build confidence first.
Is trucking really a career for women?
Yes. The idea that trucking is “only for men” is a myth. Women build stable, independent careers in trucking and equipment operation every day.
What about heavy equipment operation?
There are careers beyond the truck cab. We can talk through what heavy equipment roles involve and the training routes that lead to them.
How do I get started?
Send us a message using the form on this page. Tell us a little about yourself and what you're hoping to explore, and we'll start with a conversation.
Licensing rules and eligibility requirements vary by province and change over time. Always confirm details with your provincial licensing authority.
You don't have to be fearless.
You just have to begin.
You don't need experience. You don't need confidence yet. You just need one step. Send a note and start a conversation about what's possible.
